Privacy in the harbour
Revised on 1 November 2026
The short version of our data habits
Birchharborgames collects as little as it possibly can. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms and no comment forms. We do not run analytics software or advertising trackers of any kind on the site.
The rest of this page explains, in plain terms, the few things that do happen when you visit, and what you can do about each of them.
Your shortlist stays on your own device
When you tap the heart on a game, your shortlist is saved in your own browser using localStorage. Your answer to the cookie notice is kept in the same way, so we do not ask again on every page.
None of this is sent to us. We cannot see your shortlist, and nobody else can either unless you choose to share a link to it. Clearing your browser data removes both the shortlist and the cookie-notice choice at once.
Fonts served by Google Fonts
The typefaces on Birchharborgames are loaded from Google Fonts. To deliver the font files, Google receives your IP address and basic browser details, as happens whenever a site uses that service.
Google handles that information under its own privacy policy. We receive nothing from it and use no other Google service on the site.
When you write to the desk
If you email editors@birchharborgames.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use that only to read and reply to you.
We keep emails only as long as needed to answer them and follow up on any correction you suggested. We never add your address to a mailing list or pass it to anyone else.
Leaving for a game’s official site
Play buttons open each game’s official website in a new tab. Once you are there, that publisher’s own privacy policy governs any data it collects, including accounts, cookies and messages within the game.
We recommend reading those policies before creating an account on any game, particularly for the multiplayer games where you will share a username with other players.
What PIPEDA lets you ask of us
We handle personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to editors@birchharborgames.com.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you have the right to raise a concern with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, which oversees PIPEDA.
When this charter is redrawn
If the way Birchharborgames handles information ever changes, for example if we start using a new service, we will update this page before the change takes effect and revise the date at the top.
Questions about privacy are always welcome at editors@birchharborgames.com, and we will answer them as clearly as we can.
